ChipReader and PunchRecorder updates

The ChipReader for Android has been improved, so that you can use the app also in landscape format now. This is good for tablets. You can load this update from the Google Play Store.

In the Online Punch Recorder I have added a second server box. You can send the punches to the first receiver (which must always be active) and optionally to a second receiver. This works in the same way like the first one.

OEHeats supports the WMOC Long final

OEHeats had been already used successfully together with OE12/OE2010 at a number of WMOCs in the past years. One of my personal highlights was the WMOC 2014 in Brazil, where I could support the local organisers with my IT service. Some years ago, the IOF has changed the competition schedule of WMOC and added the Middle distance final. Together with that, the IOF has defined specific rules for the composition of the Long distance final. They include promotions and relegations between the final levels which are based on the Middle final results and for exceptional cases also on the Forest qualification results.
The Forest qualification and the Middle final can be executed using the basic functions of OEHeats.
To support the WMOC Long final, I have added a new event type WMOC Long in OEHeats. This adds the WMOC Long final as the fourth competition to the three existing events for Entries, (Forest) Qualification and (Middle) Final. Creating the start list for the WMOC Long final can be done with a single mouseclick. Since the IOF most likely changes the rules for that from time to time, you can select the year of the rule as the basis for the correct computation, beginning with 2024.
I could test this new function and validate its correct working with the data of the past WMOCs and especially with the WMOC 2024 in Turku, Finland.
For the creation of the “normal” final (which is the WMOC Middle final also), I have added the new option Fill up higher heats which is the IOF rule for the Sprint and Middle finals. If there are many competitors without a valid result in one quali heat, then it may happen that a final (normally the last but one) does not reach the full planned size, based on the quali places which would be necessary to qualify. The IOF rule says that in this case those finals must be filled up by the next placed finishers who would be in the next lower final otherwise.
I have also added some information of how every competitor came into the right final and start position. This can be displayed with the start list in OE12 as a help for the organiser and the (IOF) controller.

OEHeats will detect this update automatically. You can also use the Check for updates function to download the new setup. Updates or new licenses can be ordered through the Online shop or from the author directly.

Updates of OE12, OS12 and OEScore

A number of important improvements have been implemented in OE12.
The highlight is the new function Send online punches to the web result portal OResults.eu. It sends the punches from radio controls online in real time to OResults.eu. This is a great step to reduce the workload both on the local LAN and the OResults.eu server. This function can transfer the radio punches from the Online monitor – Server and the times from the Time taking function. This new feature will be used together with OResults.eu at the nextcoming IOF championships: EYOC in Poland, JWOC in Czechia and EOC in Hungary. They will also profit from the updated Speaker-Prewarning function, which distinguishes between official and inoffiicial times now, like this is the case with the Speaker support window. Also, the editing of additional chips (which must be used at IOF championships) has become safer to avoid unexpected consequences.
The OE12 Standard license allows courses up to 64 controls and chips with up to 64 punches only. Sometimes this lead to problems with SportIdent SIAC chips with low battery, which save multiple copies of each punch. The handling of this phenomen has been improved a lot especially when downloading such a chip. There will be clear hints issued for the competitor and the organiser.

OS12 and OEScore V.12.1 have been updated accordingly.

OE12, OS12 and OEScore will detect this update automatically. You can also use the Check for updates function in all applications to download the new setup. Of course you could also click on the Downloads button to get it.
As usual, the download works as trial version as long as you don’t have a valid V12 license. Updates or new licenses can be ordered through the Online shop or from the author directly.
