OE12, OS12 and OEScore updates

This time I got very much feedback from Spain, which is still the country with the most active SportSoftware V11/V12 licenses on the world. Many hints for OEScore V.12.1 came in as a result of the preparation for the World Rogaining Championships (WRC) 2025 which were held on July 5/6 at Quintanar de la Sierra in Spain. I visited this WRC to meet most of my Spanish contacts and to watch them working with my software. I could see some small bugs and possible improvements there which are of course implemented in this release.
There are some basic improvements which were actually proposed by OEScore users but they are mostly even more useful for OE12, see below. Since Rogaining is a team competition, there were some improvements of the team reports, f.ex. start lists and the Check teams and Team punches reports, which are also available for the OE12 team competitions now.  A special new report for OEScore is the Control statistics report, which allows class-based analyses about how many teams/competitors have visited which controls. The class result reports offer a new team result export which includes a single line for every competitor, in addition to the standard one line per team export.
There is a new result report Classes – Filtered. Sometimes multiple regional championships are executed within the same competition. There it is wished to show the results of each region separately. This new report offers a filter option by which you can do that. You can select one or more regions and display a result report of them only. In addition to that you can also filter by the fields Nation, Club, Text1, Text2, Text3, Num1, Num2 and Num3. This report is implemented in all three applications.

OE12 V.12.1 has been updated accordingly. There are some improvements which are implemented both in OEScore and OE12, but look more important for OE12. F.ex. with the start list draw you can separate the competitors no longer of the same club only, but alternatively of the same  nation or region. The team handling of OEScore in the functions Read chips and Evaluate chips has been adapted into OE12 in a similar way, especially the handling of the punch time differences.

Also OS12 V.12.1 has been updated with the common new features given above. For the mass start list reports, the special new option Exclude vacants looks useful, since these vacant places have been left unused at the time when the race starts. This is especially true for the restart start lists. I have also added an instruction how to import simple individual courses into OS12.

There are even more small but helpful improvements in all applications. As usual, all known bugs have been fixed.

OE12, OS12 and OEScore will detect this update automatically. You can also use the Check for updates function in all applications to download the new setup. Of course you could also click on the Downloads button to get it.
As usual, the download works as trial version as long as you don’t have a valid V12 license. Updates or new licenses can be ordered from the author directly.

OE12 and OEScore updates

This time I spent much efforts into improvements of the handling of teams in OE12. Now you have two new event options for teams: Teams: Everybody has to punch and max. difference. So you can define that every team mate must carry his own chip and he must punch the whole course himself. Optionally you can define the maximum punch difference, within all team mates must have punched at the same control. F.ex. the Czechian team championships are processed in this way. There is also a new report called Team punches which lists all violations against the rule which is defined by these settings.
For the team event types, I added a new report layout called Teams Single line in all reports where it looks useful. This will give a better overview in start list and result reports with up to 3 members per team.
The import of team entries has been improved. Normally the names of the team mates are entered shortly before the competition. Now you can download them from the entry portal and import just the names and new team mates if they appear.
One other main topic was that several users complained about a slow download of the chips in the finish. Actually not the download through the master station but the calculation of the split time sheet in extended format was the bottleneck. In most cases the reason were wrong network settings which slowed down the performance. Nevertheless I was able to optimize the code for an up to 45% better performance on slow computers.
There are also some other small but helpful improvements. As usual, all known bugs have been fixed.

OEScore V.12.1 has been updated accordingly. Especially the new Team Single line report layouts have been added there also.

Updates of OE12, OS12 and OEScore

A number of important improvements have been implemented in OE12.
The highlight is the new function Send online punches to the web result portal OResults.eu. It sends the punches from radio controls online in real time to OResults.eu. This is a great step to reduce the workload both on the local LAN and the OResults.eu server. This function can transfer the radio punches from the Online monitor – Server and the times from the Time taking function. This new feature will be used together with OResults.eu at the nextcoming IOF championships: EYOC in Poland, JWOC in Czechia and EOC in Hungary. They will also profit from the updated Speaker-Prewarning function, which distinguishes between official and inoffiicial times now, like this is the case with the Speaker support window. Also, the editing of additional chips (which must be used at IOF championships) has become safer to avoid unexpected consequences.
The OE12 Standard license allows courses up to 64 controls and chips with up to 64 punches only. Sometimes this lead to problems with SportIdent SIAC chips with low battery, which save multiple copies of each punch. The handling of this phenomen has been improved a lot especially when downloading such a chip. There will be clear hints issued for the competitor and the organiser.

OS12 and OEScore V.12.1 have been updated accordingly.
